Testimonal for Alexander

I would like to thank the Trustees for awarding me a Grant to help me purchase a computer and screens to the standard required for Film Editing at College in 2019.

I was diagnosed with a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) when I was 16, which affects all levels of my life, particularly my short and long term memory. Because of this, I was noticing during the first term whilst studying Film, TV and Media at WCG Leamington Spa, that I was struggling to continue work at College because of my memory.

I was made aware of the Warwick Apprenticing Charities and applied for a Grant to assist me in gaining a Film editing grade computer to use at home in order to complete my studies, and was very grateful to the Trustees for awarding me the grant.

Following on from this, I gained an Extended Diploma in Film, TV and Media at Merit level, which subsequently enabled me to apply to UCAS in the hope of gaining a Degree in Film.

In 2021, I accepted an offer to study at Coventry University in Film Production;  this was a very challenging course but I completed my Degree last year with my Final Film submission being a Documentary which earned me a 1st Class Hons Degree.  I intended to contact the Trustees after Graduation, but my lecturers encouraged me to consider the MA Film and Media Production qualification.

In November of this year, I graduated from Coventry University with an MA Film and Media Production qualification and was also awarded the Course Tutor’s Prize for Endeavour.

I know that I would not have been able to achieve so much and go so far into education without the help provided by the Trustees in 2019. It has given me the capability to create documentaries and to capture subjects that never would have been recorded in Warwickshire’s Social History.

This experience has given me confidence in my own capabilities, and has provided a major opportunity to have a fulfilling career in Film Production.

I would like to think that one day I will be in a position to be able to support those who are starting their own journeys.

With sincere thanks,

Alexander
